I listened to an audiobook this week by Gabrielle Bernstein called The Universe Has Your Back, recommended by a friend. Although I've never been particularly religious, as I'm getting older I'm definitely finding myself becoming more interested in exploring spirituality. The book promotes the idea that your life will be more fulfilled if you live with the mentality that the universe is looking out for you and that you can ask the universe for help and guidance at any time and it will answer if you listen.
I've definitely had situations in my life where coincidences seem too good to be true, or where I've said that I wanted something to happen and then for it to happen shortly after. I also strongly believe in the power of manifesting; whatever you are concentrating your mind on will find a way to become reality. I've been trying it out this week and already I've had some great (and sometimes spooky) results.
I find that hiking is the perfect time to build a stronger connection with what you want or where you need guidance, and I loved exploring more of the Marin headlands near SF this weekend. The beautiful golden fields seemed to stretch on forever and the low fog that lay over the ocean created an awesome contrast. It's hard to believe that the city is less than an hour away when surrounded by the beautiful coastline colors and the calmness of a relatively empty trail.
I've been hiking more this summer and I've been relishing spending more time in nature, switching off from my phone and concentrating on self reflection. The book has inspired me to ask the universe for what I want and to not be embarrassed by whatever that is, and I'm going to try incorporating that into my meditation this week.
